The Enforcement Technologies and Logistics (ET&L) section is part of the Operational Capability Branch (OCB) and is based within the Home Affairs component of the department. It works closely with key internal and external stakeholders including the Australian Border Force (ABF), to provide ongoing sustainment and support for detection technology capabilities. This includes:
- managing transport, logistical and unpack repack service contracts, quality management services and the radiation facility licence at Container Examination Facilities
- departmental radiation safety management responsibilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- contract and asset management for operational technologies (X-ray, Trace Detection, Substance Identification, Radiological and other support equipment) used at the border to detect prohibited goods and facilitate the movement of legitimate trade
- project technical support and procurement of operational technologies
- overall design, development, management and delivery of high level operational technology training to the ABF including subject matter expertise.
This Administration Support Officer role contributes to Department compliance with the Container and Cargo Quality Management System (CCQMS), Australian Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) regulations, and support to procurement and management functions within the section.

- Will be a point of contact for regional CCQMS Co-ordinators across the ABF
- Will identify and initiate areas of improvement to CCQMS policy scope, objectives, and performance measures
- Maintains accurate records to assist with internal and external audits including those for the provision of ISO9001:2015 Certification
- Interacts professionally with diverse stakeholders to meet strategic objectives related to organisational compliance with ISO9001 and external Commonwealth regulators
Duties and responsibilities
The Administration Support Officer will be responsible for:
- liaising with regional CCQMS coordinators across the ABF to ensure organisational compliance to ISO9001
- ensuring CCQMS internal and external audit schedule is adhered to, assist in resolution of any areas of non-compliance in a timely manner
- liaising with the Department's Radiation Safety Advisor and other technical, scientific, or specialist advisors on radiological matters
- contributing to Department compliance with the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) licence conditions
- updating policy documents managed by Enforcement Technologies and Logistics regularly in response to continuous improvement and business changes.

Role requirements/qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication, and strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of the Container and Cargo Quality Management System
- Experience in providing administrative support to meeting briefs, agendas, and minutes
- Knowledge and understanding of internal and external audits
- Quality Assurance Management systems experience/qualifications

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
