Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Critical Infra Partnership & Policy | Capability | Transport Security Screening Policy

 

The Transport Security Screening Policy section sets the methods, techniques, and equipment used for security screening across Australia airports and seaports. Additionally, we manage the training, qualification, and accreditation requirements for all screening and examination officers across the aviation, maritime, and air cargo sectors.

 

In the Transport Security Screening Policy section you will work on operational and strategic policy issues to ensure that Australia's transport security screening framework continues to meet international obligations, remain robust to prevent acts of unlawful interference, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of Australia by protecting some of Australia's most critical infrastructure assets.

 

In this team, you will play an active role in shaping how screening is conducted in Australia by implementing policy and legislative reforms, liaising with key industry figures, and so much more.

Our ideal candidate

 

Our ideal candidate has:  

  • Effective administrative skills, including the ability to follow established processes and help refine those processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft a range of documentation.
  • Ability to learn and work with the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004, Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003, Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018, and subordinate legislation.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills to achieve administrative, policy, and operational outcomes that align with Australian Government and Departmental objectives.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to strategic, operational, and administrative policy decisions to maintain and improve the transport security screening framework.
  • Assist in the administration of Australia's transport security screening framework.
  • Assist in the development of administrative, legislative, regulatory, and policy reforms to Australia's transport security screening framework.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide actionable insights into the performance of industry participants as it relates to the transport security screening framework.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
