About our team

 

National Cyber Security Coord | National Office Of Cyber Security | Cyber Security Response Coord | Multiple Sections

 

The National Office of Cyber Security (NOCS) was established in May 2023 and supports the National Cyber Security Coordinator (the Coordinator) driving forward reforms and initiatives to further improve Australia's cyber resilience. This includes coordinating the delivery of the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy.

 

Within the NOCS, the Cyber Security Response Coordination Unit (CSRCU) coordinates whole-of government (including cross-jurisdictional) action to support Australia's response to, resilience to and recovery from cyber security incidents of national significance or interest, and manage the flow-on consequences. The Coordinator works to manage de-confliction across various agencies involved in consequence management arrangements, and works closely with government partners to ensure alignment across regulatory, policy and incident response frameworks.

 

The NOCS works on the frontline of cyber policy and incident response to support the Coordinator in:

 

  • Coordinating the whole-of-government responses to major cyber incidents, including managing the responses to major cyber incidents.
  • Whole of government cyber incident preparedness efforts.
  • The strengthening of Commonwealth cyber security capability.

 

The NOCS has several expected vacancies at the EL1 level in the Cyber Security Response Coordination Unit (CSRCU). Within the CSRCU, you will work within your team and across the Unit to:

 

  • Manage coordination for cyber incidents impacting specific critical infrastructure sectors, design and deliver cyber consequence management exercises and undertake regular lessons management process in order to support stakeholders to prevent, prepare for and respond to cyber security incidents.
  • Support strategic policy development and response efforts in relation to the attribution of cyber incidents, international incident response, and broader national cyber incident arrangements.
  • Develop operational policy and effective governance and control frameworks to ensure our actions are transparent, defensible, and accountable.

Duties and responsibilities

 

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
