GM Executive & International | Executive Coordination | Ministerial & Parliamentary | Ministerial Coordination, Ministerial Liaison

 

The Ministerial and Parliamentary Branch provides administrative support to the Home Affairs portfolio Ministers' Offices, and advice and administrative support to the Department of Home Affairs' Senior Executive in relation to Ministerial, Parliamentary and Cabinet matters.

 

The Branch consists of six sections: 

  • Ministerial Coordination Section
  • Ministerial Liaison Section (including Department Liaison Officers (DLO) in the portfolio Ministers' Offices)
  • Parliamentary Section
  • Cabinet Liaison Office (CLO)
  • Ministerial Submissions, Briefs and Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS) Section
  • Ministerial Correspondence Section. 

 

The branch has a strong service delivery focus and are proactive, flexible, and thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

 

The Ministerial Liaison Section delivers the Departmental Liaison Officer program in portfolio Ministers' offices and provides advice and administrative support to the Department's Senior Executive.

 

The Ministerial Coordination Section provides excellent administrative support services to Home Affairs portfolio Ministers and their offices in coordination with to departmental liaison officers in Ministers' offices (DLOs).

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Provision of excellent administrative support services to Home Affairs Portfolio Ministers and their offices
  • Provision of high level administrative support to FAS Executive Coordination Division and AS Ministerial and Parliamentary Branch, supporting regular meetings with Ministers' Chiefs of Staff and tracking acquittal of taskings
  • Coordination of any changes to portfolio Ministers and their offices (such as the recent change to the whole of portfolio ministry)
  • Ongoing recruitment for the DLO program and for temporary vacancies in portfolio Ministers' offices
  • Development and management of an ongoing communications package in relation to the DLO role
  • Coordination of DLO onboarding and development and delivery of an ongoing training program for new DLOs
  • Delivery of the DLO Work Experience Program.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

​The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.

 
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
