The ABF College (College) designs, develops and delivers specialist vocational training to ensure that officers have the skills, knowledge and confidence to undertake their roles safely, legally and professionally.

 

Headquartered in Canberra in the College has campuses and training hubs across Australia. The College is comprised of five faculties and two units: Compliance, Investigations & Trade Faculty, College Coordination Unit, Foundational Capability Faculty, Leadership & Learning Modernisation Faculty, Maritime, Marine & Littoral Faculty, Operational Safety Training Unit and Program Development Faculty.

 

The Marine, Maritime & Littoral Faculty delivers an integrated curriculum of specialist vocational training to enable frontline officers deployed to the maritime domain to undertake their roles. The Faculty has three delivery streams, Marine, Maritime and Littoral Vessel, each headed up by a Chief Instructor.

Our ideal candidate

 

The advertised role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the littoral vessel training curriculum to ABF officers across Australia.

They must have operational credibility and the ability to influence others through effective communication in a training context. They will work cooperatively with peers and senior officers, ensuring a collaborative approach in taken at all times to ensure training is delivered consistently and to a high standard.

The Marine, Maritime & Littoral Faculty is looking for individuals who possess exceptional interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with a focus on training delivery, stakeholder engagement and mentorship. Our ideal candidates are confident, driven, have excellent attention to detail and demonstrate flexibility to meet a dynamic work environment. They will also be able to work autonomously, exercise accountability and be capable of building and maintaining culture and innovation, continual improvement and collaboration within the learning and development environment.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Effectively manage, deliver and continually improve the littoral vessel training curriculum

  • Proactively contribute to and influence the continued improvement of the College's quality assurance framework

  • Work with autonomy and accountability in interpreting policy and the application of practices and procedures, providing specialist advice to operational areas and management teams

  • Build, support and maintain complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and

  • Model and promote ethical, inclusive and equitable behaviour, the APS Values and Code of Conduct.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Hold a current Master Less Than 24 Metres Near Coastal certificate

  • Hold a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal certificate

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current driver's licence

  • Meet relevant medical, fitness, aptitude and pyschometric requirements and standards; and

  • Ability to undertake interstate travel and work extended hours to support and/or deliver training.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
