ET&L's main role within the Department of Home Affairs (the Department) is to provide contract management and procurement support to the Australian Border Force (ABF) enabling them to detect and identify prohibited and restricted goods at Australian borders. The technologies and services ET&L support include X-Ray, trace and substance detection, and transport and logistic services. These technologies are located at all airports and seaports across Australia.

Duties and responsibilities
The Assistant Director Contract and Procurement Management position includes leadership and management responsibilities for decision-making and process improvement, scope of people and resource management responsibilities including:
- Conduct and manage procurement activities
- Conduct and manage complex contract management preparation
- Conduct and manage ongoing contract management activities
- Conduct and manage contract conclusion and transition out processes
- Lead effective and influential communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage and conduct financial management activities
- Manage and conduct contract risk management
- Provide complex contract advice
- Lead a contract management team
Additional information
- Strong written and verbal communication, team cohesion and strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge and experience in government procurement and contract management activities
- Knowledge and experience managing high value complex contracts
- The occupant of the role must hold a minimum, Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting (or equivalent) or be willing to attain as a matter of priority

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
