Chief Operating Officer Group | Integrity Security & Assurance | Audit & Assurance | Detention Assurance and Reporting Section
The Detention Assurance and Reporting Section is responsible for providing six monthly reports to the Commonwealth Ombudsman under s486N of the Migration Act 1958 (the Act), relating to the circumstances of individuals who have been in immigration detention for an accumulated period of two years and at end of each successive period of six months thereafter, within 21 days of the reporting period being reached.
DARS is also responsible for preparing the Minister's response to recommendations made by the Commonwealth Ombudsman on long term detainees, to fulfil the Minister's obligations under section 486P of the Act and ensuring responses are tabled in both Houses of Parliament within 15 sitting days.

Duties and responsibilities
-
Manage the Tabling teams' group mailbox, ensuring all correspondence between the tabling team and internal and external stakeholders are trimmed in accordance with recording keeping requirements.

Complete all administrative and coordination tasks in relation to incoming assessments from the Commonwealth Ombudsman's Office.

Undertake the collection and coordination of statistical data supporting section 486N reports sent to the Ombudsman's office, ensuing up to date data is provided and ad hoc requests are responded to efficiently.

Manage case allocations and ensure balanced and considered allocations of cases to the team.

Other duties as required.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
