About our team

 

DS Executive | Data & Economic Analysis Centre | Data Services | Data Services Development

 

The Data Services Branch (DSB) is responsible for:
 

  • Delivery of data products and services to the Minister, Minster's office, Department and the ABF
  • Our data products includes statistical publications, customised statistics, management reports, interactive business intelligence dashboards and automation of manual business processes
  • Our services include complex statistical analysis, clearance of statistics for external release and advice on available statistics as well as regular and ad hoc reporting services to a large number of internal and external users
  • DSB is also responsible for managing the DEAC's Data & Analytics Capability Uplift Program and associated funding sources.
     

The Branch works closely with business areas to understand their data and analytical needs and the outcomes they are trying to achieve. Through provision of authoritative data and statistics, we support the Department's informed policy-making, program management and operational decision-making.

 

Sections within Data Services Branch

 

  • Data Services Development Section (DSDS) - develop Business Intelligence (BI) Reports and improve program management processes
  • Statistics and Reporting Section (SARS) - produce a range of official statistics, statistical products and customised statistics to inform the Minister's office, program management, operational areas and policy development
  • Robotic Process Automation - delivers business process automation solution using UiPath 'bot' technology to optimise use of available resources
  • Data Business development and Partnerships - manages relationships with business partners and client areas.
     

The branch is also responsible for governance of program of work under Data Minor Capital Funding Pool (Data MCFP) and New Policy Proposals (NPPs).

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Manage the delivery of program of work and its associated funding sources to schedule, scope and quality expectations
  • Manage risk, budget and project reporting obligations in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Build and sustain stakeholder engagement including the ability to communicate with influence and negotiate effectively
  • Work collaboratively by building effective relationships with team members and actively participating in-group activities
  • Analyse program performance against agreed plans, develop and initiate strategies to achieve program outcomes and report the Executives on the health of the program on a regular basis.

 

Additional information

 

Highly regarded:

  • Experience working as a Senior Project Manager or Program Manager
  • Demonstrated experience in complex technology and business environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, documentation and presentation skills
  • Formal training and qualifications in program and project management frameworks and methodologies, such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMP.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
