About our team

 

Chief Operating Officer Group | ICT Division | Visa Citizenship & Digital Systems | Enterprise Integration Services

 

The Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) section develops and supports the Departments middleware ICT systems including: the Common Connect Facility (CCF), the API gateway and Event Messaging Platform (EMP), the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), the Web Service Gateway (WSGW) and IBM MQ implementations.

 

The section delivers enterprise integration services for the Department including: SOA modelling, developing new web services, service transformations, new integration flows, new MQ designs, API development and establishing data exchanges with external parties.

 

EIS can also assist projects by providing advice and recommendations on integration and reviews of proposed integration approaches.

 

Practical help is available for projects by providing integration development using IBM DataPower, IBM MQ, IBM Integration Bus and service modelling. EIS are also working with the Departments architecture teams on investigating new approaches to API management and event-driven architecture.

Our ideal candidate

 

Our ideal candidate would have a strong background in IT, a proven ability in prioritisation and decision-making, a willingness to learn and an ability to pick things up quickly.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting IT applications with strong problem solving skills and experience in managing complex issues
  • Experience working with stakeholders and communicating IT issues in plain English
  • Experience in the following is highly desirable:
    • XML related technologies (XML, XSLT, WSDL, XSD, XPath)
    • Data transformation technologies
    • Exposure to integration platforms such as IBM Integration Bus, IBM DataPower, IBM MQ, and API Gateways
    • Internet security concepts such as HTTPS and Public Key Infrastructure
    • Java (or similar) development
    • Javascript and Node.js
    • Database query languages such as SQL, ESQL.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

As part of a small team of permanent employees and contractors, this position will:

  • Analyse, code, test and implement software using various tools and languages
  • Contribute to projects or activities involving the development and/or maintenance of our key systems
  • Undertake problem solving, incident resolution, defect analysis, impact assessment, develop bug fixes & provide level 3 technical support to business and clients.
  • Liaise with other technical teams, business teams, commercial partners and clients
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by participating in the team scrum process, undertaking proof of concept work, contributing to application refactoring, learning new technologies, and contributing ideas for improvement.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
