About our team

 

Regional Operations | Ac West | Operations SA | Border Operations - Maritime Operations SA

 

Maritime Operations consists of Shipping, Sea Cargo and District Offices at Port Lincoln and Port Pirie.  This area is responsible for monitoring the movement of people and goods across Australia's sea border at all South Australian regulated ports and wharves.

 

Shipping SA

The Shipping team completes vessel and immigration clearances, cruise vessel processing, small craft processing, vessel boarding and search, wharf patrol and CCTV monitoring duties.

 

Sea Cargo SA

The Sea Cargo team conducts examinations of imported sea cargo, refers breaches of border legislation and seizes prohibited items at a Cargo Examination Facility. Sea Cargo operations are supported by a team of contractors to provide unpack and repack services, and container transport.

While not essential, demonstrated experience in Shipping or Sea Cargo operations, systems and relevant qualifications would be highly desirable in the successful candidate(s).

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

Leading Border Force Officers are multi-skilled, mobile, agile and responsive leaders. Leading Border Force Officers within Operations SA are required to:

 

  • Enforce legislation and may lead small teams to lawfully exercise powers
  • Undertake research, analysis and interrogate a range of departmental IT systems for information and evidence collection
  • Interpret and apply legislation, guidelines and instructions, policy and procedures
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Communicate effectively in an operational environment.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
