About our opportunity
This process is being used to fill 2 immediate positions.

National Planning is responsible for delivering against strategic priority areas for the ABF, in particular where the ABF contribution has other key interdependencies across government. This includes novel and crisis contingency planning, effects-based planning, major events, military exercises and guests of government.
Our ideal candidate will:
•Demonstrate professional conduct and negotiation in high pressure environments
•Provide advice on ABF capabilities to whole-of-government stakeholders
•Plan and deliver contingency planning tabletop exercises for the organisation
•Undertake National Operations planning
•Be a single point of contact, establishing relationships and connecting people across both ABF and Defence.
The key duties of the position include:
In this role you will:
• Represent the ABF and border equities to Headquarters Joint Operations Command
• Participate in whole-of-government crisis response and contingency planning
• Identify opportunities for collaboration between the ABF and Defence
• Deliver briefings to senior executive of both ABF and Defence.
Due to the nature of the work undertaken at Headquarters Joint Operations Command, and security requirements of the work you will undertake, flexible work opportunities may be limited. This recruitment will be used to fill future vacancies within National Planning, as they become available.
Anticipated vacancy Contingency planning and Preparedness. EL1 positions within National Planning may be performed remotely except for the HQJOCLO position due to its job requirements.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
