Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Cyber & Infra Security Centre | Critical Infra Reg Ops & Analysis | Regulatory Operations

 

The Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre drives an all hazards critical infrastructure regime in partnership with governments, industry and the broader community. The Centre actively assists Australian critical infrastructure owners and operators to understand the risk environment and meet their regulatory requirements for the shared benefit of all Australians.

 

The Regulatory Operations section, within the Centre, has multiple positions to fill in our APS Level 6 Manager role, located in the Adelaide CBD.  We are a security regulator, primarily responsible for transport security regulation and compliance. We work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, in challenging and dynamic environments, both domestically and internationally.

Duties and responsibilities

 

The role provides a unique and challenging opportunity for you to develop or enhance your regulatory, compliance and operational skills across a range of domains, whilst working within a high profile risk management environment that serves to protect Australia and its critical infrastructure. 

 

Key duties of the role include:

  • Lead a small team of APS Level 5 senior assessors and monitor quality assessment of regulatory submissions from industry within set timelines
  • Oversee a caseload of regulatory assessments that vary in risk, complexity and priority
  • Represent the Department to industry. Communicate regulatory requirements effectively and establish and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
  • Interpret and apply a range of legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Conduct regulatory assessments and prepare complex documentation, including reasons for decisions and recommendations
  • Exercise sound judgement for decisions and recommendations
  • Prepare regulatory policy and guidance documents and supporting materials.

 

Additional information

 

Certificate IV in Government Investigations (Regulatory Compliance) or Lead Auditor in Quality Management Systems is highly regarded, or you have a willingness to undertake this qualification once in the role.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
