GM Technology & Major Cap Group | ICT Division | Technology Operations & Support | Classified Systems Delivery (CSD) Section
The Classified Systems Delivery Section (CSD) is responsible for the delivery and support of ICT systems at the Secret classification, for use by the Department of Home Affairs and a range of external stakeholders. These include numerous Australian Government Departments, New Zealand Government Departments, and other Commonwealth agencies.
The CSD Section is a multidisciplinary team comprised of resources across numerous ICT disciplines, including server, network, compute, storage, cryptographic, deployable, and desktop solutions. It also operates the ASN Service Desk, network and close support services and manages the Department's Secret and Top Secret COMSEC Accounts.
CSD supports a range of critical government capabilities, including counter terrorism initiatives, law enforcement activities, Home Affairs maritime platforms, and national crisis response, such as the continuation of Executive Government during a national emergency or disaster.

Our ideal candidate
- Leading a team of technical specialists and working collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external platform stakeholders
- With proven extensive knowledge of network topology, vendor technologies (IPS, firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches etc.), routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) & information security technologies, experience operating & sustaining gateway & network infrastructure in a large organisation
- Ability to guide and mentor of CSD Section Communications staff, managing their workload, priorities and professional development
- Representing the section, provision of technical advice, and enhancing the perception of CSD section and TOSB within the Department and with Whole-of-Government SECRET ICT users.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage the team members priorities and workloads in a constant changing environment, and mentor and transfer knowledge to other members of the CSD teams to achieve cross-skilling within an APS staffs and contractors workforce
- Assures the security, availability, capacity and performance of network infrastructure, voice and video communications systems and services
- Leads and contributes to the resolution of network incidents and problems, management of networks and comms changes, configuration items and assets, and continuous service improvement in accordance with Home Affairs ITSM practices and processes
- Accountable for the delivery of business as usual (BAU) and project outcomes in the CSD Communications area
- Development of network documentation including but not limited to, architecture design, high-level system design (HLSD), detailed level design (DLD), standard operating procedures (SOP), post incident reports (PIR), etc.

Desireable
- Resolution of complex technical incidents and supporting the delivery of projects and implementing complex changes
- Extensive knowledge and experience managing and administering an ICT network environment comprising, but not limited to, designing and supporting network topologies with different vendor technologies such as:
- Gateway
- Static/dynamic routing
- Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Networks
- Internet Protocol Security
- Load Balancers
- Hot Standby Router Protocol
- Spanning Tree Protocol
- Wide Area Network optimisation
- Quality of Service configuration.
- Significant, proven experience with network infrastructure in large organisations or similar to Government ICT environment
- Very good written and verbal communications and collaboration skills and experience
- Industry network related, recognised certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
