DS Executive | Data & Economic Analysis Centre | N/A | Data Governance Strategic Policy

 

The Data Governance Strategic Policy Section leads the data strategy and policy initiatives for Home Affairs, prioritising AI ethics and responsible data usage. We develop comprehensive data strategies, policies, standards, and processes for the Department and the Australian Border Force to improve data availability, trust, and utilisation in decision-making processes. Our functions encompass data policy formulation, program management, data security, access management, and promoting data and AI literacy.

Our ideal candidate

 

As a Program Implementation Officer you will

  • work under limited direction to lead and support the implementation, development and continuous improvement of a program or multiple programs

  • lead and manage service delivery of a program, which may include financial decisions within their delegation

  • draft and review a broad-range of reporting and communications whilst adhering to program, departmental and Portfolio strategies and procedures

  • exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, have strong written and oral

  • assist with cost benefit analysis, budgeting, risk planning and resource management

  • experience within a data area or having program/project expertise within the data domain would be highly valuable.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

We are seeking a candidate with a wide range of experience and diverse skill sets. The successful candidate will exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to manage urgent tasking within short time frames when required: 

  • Lead and support the management of a program

  • Lead and manage service delivery

  • Draft and review program reports

  • Establish and grow productive working relationships through day-to-day liaison with the program network

  • Draft and review program communications

  • Develop team members to support succession planning and improve program management capability through mentoring, coaching, on-the-job training, formal training and secondments.

 

 

Additional information

 

  • Work closely with other programs that have an effect on the program

  • Understand the impact of the program upon its stakeholders

  • Regularly attend and represent the program in a variety of forums with internal and external entities to provide expertise and ensure program needs are met

  • Undertake workforce planning, including identifying staff shortages and training needs, for projects and less complex aspects of the program.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
