The Section, as part of the Chief Medical Officer Branch (CMOB), consist of doctors, registered nurses, psychologists and allied health professionals predominantly in the areas of staff health and wellbeing, immigration and detention, but may also extend to various other topics given the breadth of the Home Affairs portfolio.

 

The Biopsychosocial Risk Program is an integrated, clinically underpinned best practice approach to identifying and addressing key demands and health-related risks, inherent in high-risk roles. It allows for a detailed understanding of the dimensions of the demands of a role, related health risks, and the development of comprehensive mitigation strategies to address those risks. 

 

The program also ensures that medical, fitness and psychological standards for roles are fit for purpose, provides advice as required, and manages health assessment policy and escalated complex cases.

Our ideal candidate

 

We are seeking applications from experienced psychologist to be part of an exciting program that is an integrated, clinically underpinned best practice approach to identifying biopsychosocial demands of a role and mitigation strategies to address the health-related risks inherent in high-risk roles across the Department and the Australian Border Force.

 

The Biopsychosocial Risk Program is a significant undertaking, and potentially will have implications in relation to how roles are designed, how individuals are matched to those roles, how staff are supported to minimise risk, and define career paths and gateway requirements from early in an employee's career.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Complete a task analysis for high-risk roles in collaboration with other clinical team members
  • Where required, conduct a physical inspection of work environment
  • Co-facilitate workshops with the business area, staff currently working in the role and clinicians for the purpose of developing biopsychosocial job profiles
  • Develop recommended biopsychosocial job profiles for high-risk roles which incorporates job demands, risks and mitigation strategies
  • Support and assist with the design, development and implementation of products and services that improve staff performance, engagement and wellbeing.

 

Additional information

 

  • Psychologist and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (mandatory)
  • Qualifications and/or experience in public health (desirable)
  • Qualifications and/or experience in occupational health (desirable).

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
