About our team
Regional Operations | West | Operations West | Maritime - Broome District Office
Operations West is responsible for the effective facilitation of people and goods (travel and trade) across the international border in Western Australia (WA), while protecting government revenue and ensuring compliance with Australia's customs and immigration laws.
Operations West is led by a Commander, who reports to the Assistant Commissioner West.
The Maritime Operations WA Branch is the Australian Border Force (ABF)'s largest Command covering 20,784 kilometres of coastline (including islands), with around 120 uniformed Border Force Officers located across 10 work areas including Fremantle and 9 district office locations. Maritime Operations WA deploys officers to perform a range of border security and operational tasks across air, land and sea domains.
The position is part of the Broome District Office in the Maritime Operations Branch.
Our ideal candidate
- Our ideal candidate is required to wear the ABF uniform and represent the ABF professionally in the public domain.
- As well as undertaking administrative support duties, officers may be utilised for passenger processing at Broome International Airport. Officers must be capable of interacting with members of the community and foreign visitors.
- Officers will need to develop and maintain productive working relationships through day-to-day engagement and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Other duties may include ordering stationery and equipment, distribution of stores or supplies, property services, petty cash handling or basic finance activities for the business area.
- IIE (Irregular/Intermittent Employee) Officers will be expected to be flexible in their work hours and duties to support the Maritime Broome District Office precinct.

Additional Information
This role will be based in the Broome District Office area. All officers will be required to be situated in Broome so they can assist with district operations as needed.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
