About our team

Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Critical Infra Reg Ops & Analysis | Critical Infrastructure Security Compliance

The Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) was established on 1 September 2021 to drive an all hazards regime of critical infrastructure protection enabled by a stronger focus on cyber security. As the operational arm within the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Group, the CISC delivers best practice, intelligence and risk informed regulatory and compliance functions that work with industry to ensure Australia's critical infrastructure protection.

Critical Infrastructure Regulatory Operations and Analysis Branch

The Critical Infrastructure Regulatory Operations and Analysis Branch is responsible for developing and operationalising the compliance framework and related activities for the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act) and the delivery of transport security regulatory operations for the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA) and the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 (ATSA). The Branch also provides the digital backbone for the CISC through data, systems, training, analytics and project delivery. This capability informs decision making and risk assessment, and provides an evidence base for CISG policy areas.

Critical Infrastructure Security Compliance Section

The Section is responsible for developing and operationalising the compliance framework and related activities for the SOCI Act. This includes managing compliance activities for SOCI Act obligations including the Register of Critical Infrastructure Assets, Mandatory Cyber Incident Reports, and Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program. We are also responsible for compliance engagement activities with stakeholders. We also undertake system and data related activities that support these functions, including quality assurance of data and interrogation of sensitive databases.

The Critical Infrastructure Regulatory Operations and Analysis Branch has several positions available at the APS 5 level. These roles are responsible for building and maintaining positive values and behaviour in the Department.
