Regional Operations | Ac North & Detention | Regional Director QLD/NT | Operations NT

 

Operations NT is accountable to the Assistant Commissioner North for the conduct of efficient and effective customs, migration, surveillance, patrol and response activities in the Northern Territory's remote onshore and littoral operating domains. Operations NT is responsible for maintaining control of persons, goods, vessels and small-craft through activities in the Northern Territory's in-shore maritime environment outside of seaport limits.

 

Operations NT delivers functions through border enforcement and operational activities on cross-border movements of people and goods in a number of operational areas, including international airports, seaports and cargo facilities. Operations NT plays a vital role processing travellers and goods to protect the Northern Territory's border from the entry of illegal and harmful goods and those intending to commit migration fraud or threaten the national interest. This includes processing travellers and goods arriving and departing Australia outside of major metropolitan airports and seaports, such as, vessels and small craft at remote seaports and light aircraft at regional airfields.

Duties and responsibilities

 

All Senior Border Force Officer positions include leading a team. You will take a proactive approach to your work, delivering high quality outcomes in a diverse and dynamic operational environment.

 

Your duties may include:

  • Maintaining awareness of border threats and the effectiveness of border controls relating to all operational environments

  • Providing accurate professional and policy advice within an area of specialisation to Ops NT Supervisors and contributing to the implementation of national and regional operational initiatives

  • Assisting in the development of tactical responses to maintain border controls including traveller processing, aircraft and vessel clearance including intervention, air and sea cargo processing and intervention, maritime and land patrols and cargo compliance

  • Contributing to the implementation of best practice processes and best business outcomes

  • Representing the work area or the ABF at community, forums and other stakeholder meetings

  • Providing leadership to section team in order to achieve outputs and outcomes

  • Leading change management and reform, including cultural change.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
