The Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) delivers a best practice, industry-focused, active and engaged regulatory and partnership function that works with industry to ensure Australia's critical infrastructure protection.

 

AusCheck Branch, within the CISC, supports the Centre's mission to create a safer Australia by protecting critical infrastructure from malicious-insider threats such as cyber-attacks, terrorism and organised crime. AusCheck provides Trusted Insider Checks, commonly referred to as background checking services for security-sensitive critical infrastructure sectors in Australia.

 

AusCheck ensures the identity of people and coordinates their criminal and national security background checks, to determine their eligibility for unsupervised access to secure areas of infrastructure and supply chains in the aviation and maritime, Security Sensitive Biological Agents (SSBAs, under the National Health Scheme), Major National Events (MNE) and Critical Infrastructure sectors.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • As a manager, be accountable for the setting of priorities, developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual.
  • Manage a professional and high performing team consisting of staff and contractors in the relevant field and in a complex and dynamic work environment.
  • Provide communication and media subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the AusCheck Executive in the delivery of Government priorities and Branch communication programs and contribute to strategic thinking and planning.
  • Undertake research and analysis of policy and programs to determine appropriate forms of communication strategies/mediums.

 

Additional information

 

The following traits are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of the tools and processes used for media production.
  • Knowledge or the ability to quickly master Departmental social media guidelines and style guide.
  • Knowledge operating within the Australian Government branding guidelines and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and relevant sections of the Copyright Act 1969 and Privacy Act 1988.
  • Qualifications, and/or demonstrated equivalent experience, in a relevant field is desirable but not mandatory.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
