Our APS 6 Senior Intelligence Analyst positions are office-based intelligence analyst roles. People in these positions will be expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, liaise with stakeholders, produce formal written intelligence assessments and delivery briefings on thematic threats.
 

Knowledge of and experience in intelligence processes, along with knowledge of threats in the border environment will be highly regarded. 

 

They work under limited direction to create complex intelligence products on thematic issues. Undertaking research and analysis of information from a variety of sources.

 

Some vacancies are expected to be ACT-only positions, while alternative locations may be considered for the right candidate for other analyst roles.

 

Some roles may require a Positive Vetting security clearance (or ability to obtain).

Our ideal candidate

 

  • 3 years practical experience in writing intelligence assessments (Most important)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to conduct research and make evidence-based assessments from incomplete data
  • Good written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation to achieve work area outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively with team and other stakeholders
  • Review the work of others and provide constructive feedback
  • Record-keeping and information management in-line with legislative requirements.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
