GM Technology & Major Cap Group | ICT Division | Technology Operations & Support | Classified Systems Delivery

 

The Classified Systems Delivery Section (CSD) is responsible for the delivery and support of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems at the Secret classification, for use by the Department of Home Affairs and a range of external stakeholders. These include numerous Australian Government Departments, New Zealand Government Departments, and other Commonwealth agencies.

 

The CSD Section is a multidisciplinary team comprised of resources across numerous ICT disciplines, including server, network, compute, storage, cryptographic, deployable, and desktop solutions. It also operates the Australian Secret Network (ASN) Service Desk, network and close support services and the Department's COMSEC and Top Secret (TS) coordination units.

 

CSD supports a range of critical government capabilities, including counter terrorism initiatives, law enforcement activities, Home Affairs maritime platforms, and national crisis response, such as the continuation of Executive Government during a national emergency or disaster.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Assure the availability, capacity and health of the Australian Secret Network IT platform (Windows, RedHat Linux and VMware infrastructure and applications), and manage disaster recovery
  • Manage or support the resolution of incidents and problems, preparation and implementation of changes, and continuous improvement in accordance with ITSM practices and processes, and Australian Government security policies
  • Support knowledge management, including preparing and improving knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures and other technical documentation relevant to platform operations
  • Support IT systems and services deployed on Australian Border Force vessels in support of border security operations
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder and vendor relationships to enable effective collaboration and service operations, aligned with our business needs.

 

Additional information

 

Formal education and qualifications in IT system administration (e.g. tertiary or vocational education, previous Microsoft Certified Solutions qualifications or Microsoft Role-based Certifications) will be highly regarded.

 

Most of the technologies deployed in the ASN IT platform, as follows:

  • Windows Server
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory, System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM), Hyper-V and Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), File and Print services, Exchange, and SharePoint
  • RedHat Enterprise and other flavour of Linux distributions
  • VMware suite of server and end user computer solutions
  • Dell, HP and Hitachi hardware server, storage and backup infrastructure
  • End User Computing Zero/Thin Client platform
  • CommVault Backup Solution
  • F5 Load Balancer
  • YSoft, PaperCut and SafeQ Print Solutions
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP)
  • Symantec Data Center Security (DCS.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

​The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.

 
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
