The Data Platforms Section is responsible for maintaining an Enterprise repository encompassing the majority of data within the Department. It is responsible for acquiring and processing data from internal source systems and external agencies. Data in these systems is provisioned to follow-on systems, ABF users, data scientists, business users and policy areas for integration, reporting, intelligence/profiling functions and analytical purposes.
The section oversees the operation of the Connected Information Environment which consists of Teradata, DB2 and Apps Mart.

Our ideal candidate
- You will enjoy working in a dynamic and tightly-knit team where members are dependent on each other to share their awareness of issues that could impact on the smooth running of the Connected Information Environment (CIE)
- You will possess a high focus on accuracy and thoroughness to ensure that fixes and upgrades in Teradata are successful and won't have to be rolled back (remediated)
- You will assist in managing systems risk issues, undertake complex technical testing, develop technical documentation, analyse systems defects, impacts and design resolutions
- You will have a passion for investigating and trialling new technologies and enjoy troubleshooting and resolving performance and functionality issues across a range of technologies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Contribute to projects or activities involved in the development and/or maintenance of Data Platforms' systems
- Undertake problem solving and incident resolution and demonstrate an understanding of change control and release management procedures
- Work closely with staff in application and infrastructure areas to resolve technical issues
- Negotiate and liaise with key technical and business stakeholders and with external service providers
- Defect analysis, impact assessment and the design of fixes.
Additional information
- You will require a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
- You must be willing to be available to work after hours as required and be placed on an on-call roster where you will be required to be contactable and available as necessary to perform duties outside of normal work hours on rostered days.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
