Look no further than the Visa Support Centre (VSC)!

 

The VSC is a visa operational response capability within Immigration Operations Group. We provide 24/7 support to the global visa processing network to resolve urgent visa escalations for our stakeholders.

 

As a VSC Officer, you will work as part of a small shift team of experienced visa processing officers. Your shift could start with resolving sensitive and urgent visa matters, including where action needs to be taken outside of normal business hours. You could also provide visa processing support to one of our overseas processing areas to help keep delivery of their visa programs on track. You might finish your shift by resolving enquiries from visa applicants, reducing the need for those clients to contact the Department again.

 

You might also be supporting the whole of Government crisis response framework to coordinate and deliver the visa components of crisis response. Some examples include the conflict in Ukraine, the Hamas-Israel conflict, and the evacuations from Afghanistan.

Duties and responsibilities:

Working within a small team, you will:

  • work under limited direction to assess and determine visa applications in line with relevant legislation and policy
  • make lawful decisions confidently and decisively; demonstrating sound judgement and logical reasoning, accountability for decisions and actions
  • engage responsibly with risk, seeking relevant information to resolve or refer issues; consider problems from a range of perspectives, leveraging experience and other resources to assist in identifying solutions
  • manage client enquiries or escalated visa applications through to resolution, including drawing on input from others and escalating on a 'need to know' principle when required
  • demonstrate flexibility and initiative; including assisting with other related work to support VSC objectives when required, such as preparing briefings, internal minutes etc.

 

Additional information:

These positions are designated full-time shift work roles, and the occupants are required to perform duties on a roster, including mornings (6am commencement), evenings (12midnight finish), weekends and public holidays. Shift work penalties apply.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
