Strategy & Capability | ABF Workforce | ABF College | Foundational Capability Faculty

 

The ABF College operates nationally, with faculty representation across numerous states. These operationally experienced and highly qualified officers work collegiately with operational areas to provide foundational, advanced and specialist vocational training to Border Force Officer Recruit Trainees (BFORT) and Border Force Officers (BFO).

The Foundational Capability Faculty is responsible for the delivery of programs for Border Force Officer Recruit Training (BFORT) and other foundation Border Force Officer vocational training, including in-service and pre-posting training.

 

Other foundation programs delivered by the Faculty include:

  • Detention and Search of Persons
  • Passenger Clearance Course.

Duties and responsibilities

 

The APS5 Foundational Capability Instructor position within the Foundational Capability Faculty is responsible for all facets of delivering specific training packages. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Delivery, management and continual improvement of ABF College training programs
  • Present and facilitate training to audiences of various sizes
  • Assist in developing objectives for short-term tasks and contribute to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives
  • Develop and/or manage stakeholder relationships and provide advice where necessary
  • Coordinate resources, monitor and record all training.

 

Additional information

 

Mandatory

• Certificate IV in Training, Assessment and Evaluation (TAE) or the ability to obtain.


Desirable

• Previous experience in training delivery and operational environments

• Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond to new challenges in a changing environment.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
