Immigration | Character Cancellation & Case Res | Status Resolution Network | Detention Status Resolution

 

Status Resolution teams based at Immigration Detention Centres are part of the national Status Resolution Network, delivering targeted services to people seeking to resolve their immigration status while in held detention. The teams contribute to the integrity of Australia's migration program by facilitating immigration outcomes for non-citizens, in a timely and lawful manner, while managing risk to the community. These non-citizens are often at the end of their immigration pathway and can fall into higher risk categories with vulnerabilities or character concerns that need to be intensively managed.

  • Ability to provide support and guidance to team members in a constantly changing, complex and politically sensitive environment
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy to resolve highly complex enquiries
  • The ability to undertake a logical and balanced decision making process and provide justification for that decision within defined parameters
  • Ability to adapt communication style to detainee or situation - well-developed interpersonal skills to facilitate and promote positive interactions with clients, peers and stakeholders
  • Develop and convey a working understanding of Department of Home Affairs' policies, procedures and guidelines.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Lead, coach and mentor Status Resolution Teams of APS4 & APS5 SROs working at Immigration Detention Centres, with decision-making support and performance management
  • Relay complex and difficult messages in relation to immigration pathways to detainees individually or in groups
  • Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders regarding case progression and represent the Department more broadly with professionalism and tact
  • Undertake regular quality assurance and checking, and provide direction on how to manage detainee's cases and caseloads to teams
  • Analyse and report on team performance including caseload reviews and dashboards.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
