Immigration | Service Design & Delivery Programs | Identity & Biometrics Forensic Ser | Complex Identity Advice
The Identity and Biometrics Forensic Services Branch supports the Department and Australian Border Force resolve and assure the identities of all those that cross the border or reside in Australia. The branch also assists domestic and international partners to identify persons of interest in criminal investigations and in immigration fraud matters. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the branch contributes to the streamlining of departmental service delivery and the enhancement of fraud detection capabilities.
Anchoring the identity of non-Australian citizens is vital to facilitating the migration, travel and trade that helps build a prosperous, secure and united Australia. Through the development of legislation, policies and processes, the Branch promotes the creation and use of secure and trusted identities for non-citizens and citizens throughout the Australian community, and plays a pivotal role in assuring the identity of non-citizens applying to enter and stay in Australia through visa and citizenship pathways.
Complex Identity Advice: Provides an identity investigation enabling support function via the production of identity assessments for referring business areas. We investigate and resolve intractable, high risk identity concerns linked to the entire migration continuum. This includes referrals from Visa and Citizenship processing, Status Resolution, Removals, Ministerial Intervention and Judicial Review matters.

About Complex Identity Analyst role
Complex Identity Analysts work under limited direction to investigate and resolve the identity of persons with complex identity issues and provide trusted advice to assist with identity resolution. They undertake comprehensive research and structured analysis of a broad range of qualitative information retrieved from a variety of public and restricted data sources. Complex Identity Analysts present analysis, findings and/or recommendations in structured written products and provide advice to support departmental priorities. Complex Identity Analysts plan and conduct interviews to support identity resolution.
Complex Identity Analysts may also develop and deliver training in identity investigation to enhance the capability of their team, customers and/or partner agencies, in addition to undertaking as part of a team, cohort research, analysis, and preparing reports and other decision support products.
Duties and responsibilities
Senior Complex Identity Analyst:
- Supervise and conduct complex identity investigation and analysis of data and intelligence
- Plan and conduct complex identity interviews
- Supervise a small complex identity analyst team, and at times lead investigations
- Develop complex identity analysis capability
- Produce identity reports and products
- Participate in analysis projects
- Participate in case and peer reviews and evaluations
- Assist in delivering training using identity resolution subject matter expertise
- Develop capabilities and undertake quality assurance of work
- Undertake duties as directed by the Assistant Director.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
