The Fraud and Corruption Control Team ensures that the department meets its obligations under the Commonwealth Fraud and Corruption Control Framework 2024. This includes delivering a Fraud and Corruption Control Plan, providing tools and methodologies to enable business area to assess their exposure to fraud and corruption risks, testing the effectiveness of the key controls used to prevent and detect fraud or corruption.

Our ideal candidate
The Assistant Director, Fraud Control is responsible for the delivery of key fraud and corruption control activities for the Department, including the development and management of the Department's Fraud and Corruption Control Plan.
The Assistant Director will lead the facilitation of fraud and corruption risk assessments across the department and provide leadership on other key activities that supports the department in managing fraud and corruption risk. The Assistant Director will manage the process for measuring the effectiveness of fraud and corruption controls, fraud awareness training and developing initiatives aimed at promoting a strong culture of identifying and reporting fraud and corruption.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of relevant legislative and policy requirements, specifically the Commonwealth Fraud and Corruption Control Framework 2024 (the Framework) and relevant Australian Standards on Risk Management.
- Lead the delivering of a number of key projects to support the prevention of fraud and corruption including training, and communication and awareness products. Lead the planning and deliver of fraud awareness week which aims to promote staff knowledge of fraud and corruption.
- Working effectively with stakeholders across the department to drive fraud and corruption prevention, detection and response activities.
- Undertake risk assessment and risk management activities to prevent, detect respond to fraud and corruption including the periodic review of controls.
- Manage, coordinate and analyse briefing papers including the Fraud in Home Affairs Report and other documents which report on the department's activity and progress against key fraud and corruption risks, controls and treatments.

- Diploma in Government (Fraud Control or equivalent) or the ability to obtain within 12 months of commencement.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
