The MBC Partnerships Directorate is responsible for the delivery of high-level strategic guidance on domestic and international engagement activities; contributing to engagement related briefing and strategic communications support to the MBC Executive. It provides strategic analysis and advice to domestic and foreign partners on MBC's position within the whole-of-government civil maritime security community, linking in to the broader ABF, Home Affairs Portfolio and whole-of-government systems to support MBC's mission. This serves to transition policy initiatives into operational effect. The Directorate's Strategic Communications Team manages all MBC Social and Printed Media supporting MBC's narrative in combatting civil maritime security threats.

Duties and responsibilities
- Develop engagement briefs, country profiles, talking points, and strategic summaries in preparation for senior-level participation in regional and international forums (e.g. QUAD, Five Eyes, JHOPS, ASEAN, ReCAAP).
- Represent ABF at working-level international forums and contribute to building relationships with foreign civil maritime agencies and regional bodies.
- Lead coordination of travel and engagement programs for ABF senior executives, including logistics, clearance processes, and delivery of supporting documentation (briefing packs, itineraries, meeting agendas, speeches, and presentations).
- Collaborate with posted officers and international partners to identify operational opportunities to enhance civil maritime cooperation with Pacific countries.
- Work with interagency partners such as DFAT, ADF, AMSA, and AFMA to ensure alignment of Australia's civil maritime security engagement with national priorities.
- Coordinate and track work outputs from various internal MBC teams to ensure a collaborative and collective response is provided on behalf of the Command.
- Contribute to drafting of civil maritime security-related content in strategic documents and interdepartmental committees.
- Track and support post-engagement outcomes and ensure MBC positions are reflected in relevant regional cooperation processes.

The APS6 Senior Partnerships Officer plays a central role in coordinating and delivering ABF's regional engagement with partner countries and multilateral bodies. Operating under limited direction, the role involves preparing high-quality strategic inputs, building interagency relationships, and representing the ABF at working-level international forums. Officers must be responsive, analytical, and capable of operating effectively across civil maritime security initiatives.
Our successful candidate must:
- Fulfil the Department's minimum requirements by satisfactorily answering all screening questions during the application process
- Swear an oath or make an affirmation into the ABF and be uniformed if the position requires
- Actively participate in career management (postings and deployments either intra or interstate).
- Be open to occasional domestic or international travel as it may be required as part of the role.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
