Branch Overview
The Australian Border Operations Centre (ABOC) is a centralised and unified operations centre, responsible for providing a single source of truth on ABF operations. It is the central point of contact for partner agencies, unifying operational capabilities of the Department of Home Affairs and the ABF into the planning, executing, coordinating and managing national ABF activities and operations. The ABOC consists of various sections to provide an end-to-end capability to support targeting across traveller and goods, as well as the rapid stand-up and continuity of effort for major incidents. The ABOC also supports the increase of efficiencies within the ABF through enhancing capability, systems, and promoting national consistency for operational planning in order to facilitate the safe and secure movement of people and goods across the entire border continuum.

ABOC Watchfloor
ABOC Watch Keepers work within and support the centralised and unified physical operations centre located in Canberra, which facilitates a national real-time view of operational activity and priorities. ABOC Watch Keepers triage, assess, prioritise, disseminate and coordinate information across the ABF and within the Department of Home Affairs, providing a single source of situational awareness across the border continuum through effective information management processes. ABOC Watch Keepers support and provide a primary point of contact for partner agencies and stakeholders engaging with the ABF.

Duties and responsibilities
The Border Force Supervisor is required to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain relationships to progress joint engagement and outcomes consistent with ABF Operational Priorities. They will need to provide responsive and accurate operational reporting, including the delivery of briefings during operational and crisis events.
· The Border Force Supervisor is required to train, develop and mentor team members and assist in identifying career and development needs for both self and team members.
· Supervise a small team providing feedback and mentoring including recognising development opportunities
· Delegate tasks across team members effectively by making use of individual and team capabilities
· Understand, interpret and apply complex information and communicate it in a straightforward manner
· Acquire and apply comprehensive knowledge of policy, procedures and guidelines to situations to make rational judgements and decisions from the available information
· Prepare correspondence and quality reports
· Acquire and maintain a high level of technical expertise in multiple systems.
· Manage and maintain oversight of day-to-day operations and support Senior Border Force Officers in decision making and the escalation of complex or sensitive issues for resolution
· Working in conjunction with other ABF Programs as an integral part of Australia's layered approach to border management to identify threats before they reach the Australian border.

Shift positions are based in the office due to the nature and classification of the work undertaken.
Highly Desirable:
- Some positions within the Australian Border Force require the occupant to meet Border Force Officer essential qualifications
If successful for one of these positions, candidates are required to:
- Attain and maintain relevant medical, fitness and psychometric standards
- Swear an oath or make an affirmation
- Actively participate in career management (postings and deployments)
- Be uniformed.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
