Chief Operating Officer Group | Procurement Property & Contracts | Property | Business Continuity Management

 

The Business Continuity Management (BCM) Section is responsible for administering the Department's Business Continuity Management Framework.

 

Through the Framework, the Section contributes to organisational resilience by enabling the Department to:

  • Drive a business continuity program to strengthen the Department's BCM capability and increase preparedness.
  • Maintain a Business Continuity Management Framework that clearly outlines response and recovery arrangements, including accountabilities, for all business-critical functions
  • Coordinate and continuously improve business continuity management practices in the Department
  • Facilitate effective responses to risks, threats and disruptions that restore critical business processes within the required maximum tolerable period of disruption
  • Prepare and provide support to executive leadership to ensure effective recovery following disruption
  • Advise and enable employees to engage with business continuity concepts and arrangements.

Our ideal candidate

 

  • Strong understanding, or demonstrated ability to gain an understanding, of the Department's governance frameworks, strategic direction, role and functions
  • Experience in leading a small team to deliver high quality outputs within specified timeframes
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and liaison skills and ability to flexibly priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and logical manner
  • Excellent strategic thinking and critical analysis skills
  • Sound judgement, common sense and discretion, and the ability to work quickly and with limited direction.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Helping the Department to identify opportunities to make operational improvements, especially in areas not otherwise explored from a continuity perspective
  • Providing leadership, and engaging and collaborating with stakeholders from across the Department, including the ABF
  • Promote and assist with the full lifecycle of Business Continuity Plans
  • Perform regular reporting and auditing on BCPs for the Department and ABF, checking status and quality
  • Review external service provider contracts to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet departmental requirement
  • Preparation within the Department for disruptions, mitigating incidents as they arise to avoid them becoming major disruptions
  • Supporting the Business Continuity Controller and Business Continuity Leads during disruptive events to ensure business operations are recovered as a priority.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
