About our team
Please note, these vacancies are for two separate functions: Community Liaison and Business Outreach. If you progress to interview, you will be asked which role you would prefer.
Community Engagement: Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) actively engage with community representatives, building trusted relationships to understand communities and share official government policy and program information. CLOs actively manage risk and information, planning engagements with stakeholders and prepare engagement reports that provide analysis. CLOs register and maintain accurate records of community engagement activities in official departmental record keeping systems. They will liaise with community members to share information about their priorities, concerns, and the impact of government policies and programs on communities.

Business Outreach: Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO) Officers, located across Australia, engage directly with key businesses, employers, industry bodies and regional communities to promote the Department's Skilled Migration Program and provide support to communities and employers to meet their specific needs. BIROs regularly attend events and conduct information sessions, speaking about the programs and network with key stakeholders to promote the range of visa options available.

Our ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills. They will excel at developing and maintaining relationships across government and non-government organisations, as well as building rapport with various stakeholders including community groups.
Their strengths will be in their ability to:
• Liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders
• Conduct engagement activities in a manner that fosters mutual respect and trust
• Identify a range of opportunities to further support the promotion of the Department's programs across communities, industries and regional locations
• Understand or have the ability to acquire an understanding of Australia's visa framework and skilled migration programs.
Duties and responsibilities
• Coordinate, prepare and write quality reports and briefings, demonstrating delivery against agreed key objectives and feedback from stakeholders
• Undertake research and engagement with stakeholders to understand issues across communities, regions and industry
• Participate in meetings and use representational skills to prepare and deliver information sessions and presentations at relevant conferences and events (both face to face and virtually) and work collaboratively with other Commonwealth agencies and State and Industry sectors
• Coordinate and initiate events targeting key messaging in accordance with Department and government priorities.
Additional information
- A valid drivers licence is required
- The role will require occasional interstate or regional travel
- Ability to occasionally work outside standard business hours is a mandatory requirement

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
