The WHS section provides WHS advice, assurance, support and the framework for the organisation to manage their WHS responsibilities. WHS is undergoing a significant change program to uplift the way the Section services the Department and includes implementing a new IT system for incident and hazard management. The Department is seeking and experienced leader that will engage with, and lead, the changes.

- Extensive experience in Human Resources, particularly in the field of WHS
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, facilitation, engagement, and coaching skills
- Embodies a strong client focus, including anticipating needs, distilling the core issues from complex information and providing solutions to ensure outcomes are met
- Has highly developed communication skills, intuitively selecting appropriate channels, content and tone for diverse purposes and audiences, including our Executive
- Develops and manages strategic relationships whilst working collaboratively to ensure objectives are achieved
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for the delivery of people-centric initiatives to support the overall health and wellbeing of our staff within a geographically dispersed workforce.
- Drive improvements to systems and procedures within the Branch and more generally across the Division lead, motivate and inspire your team, fostering a collaborative and high performance work environment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, governance requirements, policies and procedures.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
