Duties and responsibilities

 

The Executive Officer provides administrative and strategic support across all areas of People Division including but not limited to:

 

  • High-level administrative support and advice to the First Assistant Secretary and other People Division senior leaders including identification of emerging issues with possible strategic, political or operational implications.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with, and provide a high level of service to:
    • Senior Executives within the Group or Division, and across the department/ABF
    • the Office of the Secretary
    • the Offices of the Ministers for Home Affairs
    • senior officers in external agencies and organisations
  • Managing, coordinating and preparing a large volume of complex, sensitive and/or high risk communications, including board papers and agendas, briefings, speeches, media responses and submissions.
  • Reviewing high-level committee papers to identify significant operational and strategic impacts on the Division's work program and coordinate input across the Division to enable FAS PD and the COO to be briefed accordingly.
  • Providing quality assurance of outgoing communications for accuracy, relevance of information and impacts on other business units within the Division, Group and where relevant, department and key external relationships.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
