The Australian Border Force (ABF) Workforce Insights & Planning Section is a HR function within the Workforce Planning & Management Branch. Our team plays a critical role in shaping an agile and future ready workforce by providing data driven insights and workforce planning.

 

Using data, we help the ABF forecast workforce needs, manage risks, and develop long term solutions. Our work ensures the ABF has the right people, in the right place, at the right time, supporting both operational and strategic objectives.

 

We collaborate closely with stakeholders across and outside the ABF to align workforce planning efforts with business needs and broader organisational priorities. Duties and responsibilities

 

What you could be doing each day:

 

  • Support the team to consult with a range of business areas, from maritime, to major airports, to regional operations, to policy areas, to understand their unique workforce challenges and risks
  • Support in the creation of workforce planning artefacts that can impact individual business areas, emerging threats or even the whole of the ABF
  • Contribute to workforce planning activities by identifying trends and patterns in data that guide strategic choices
  • Provide input to relevant documentation for executive clearance including Senate Estimate briefs, Ministerial Correspondence, Ministerial Submissions, and other briefing papers as required
  • Participating and contributing to other workforce projects or broader ABF programs of work as required
  • Support the research and drafting of HR related proposals, projects and solutions to support the team's strategic direction.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
