Manager Staff Housing sits within the Property Contracts team within Property Branch. The innovative and dynamic team is responsible for the effective management and delivery of key property services including:
- Management, delivery and strategic alignment of the Department's onshore staff housing portfolio ensuring fit for purpose houses at regional locations are provided to the highest standard for posted Australian Border Force Officers.
- Contract management, governance and advice in relation to the Department’s property services contract, under the Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) deed, held by the Department of Finance. Ensuring our residential and commercial premises, which are owned and leased, by the Department are well managed and maintained, in accordance with the contract.
- Management of procurement activities related to property and security related panels, which enable the correct provision of service providers to support the delivery of key property and security services, which are used by multiple Government entities.

- Ability to manage, resolve and provide advice regarding issues impacting the delivery of a project, using correct methods.
- Experience in managing small teams, creating a sense of purpose and working collaboratively to create a positive culture and desired outcomes of the Staff Housing Framework.
- Ability to collaborate through key program networks including ABF officers, property service provider, senior executive and other commonwealth entities.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Staff Housing Framework including, strategy development, budget management and forward planning to optimise property requirements and meet operational needs.
- Coordinate and manage a range of stakeholders to deliver the end to end governance arrangements to support the staff housing portfolio, with the intent to inform the current and future state requirements.
- Financial planning and budget management to ensure the financial allocations of capital and operational spending is optimised based on the departmental funding allocation.
- Continuous improvement and monitoring of relevant policies and procedural instructions, including internal guidelines of best practice to support the current and future staff housing portfolio.
- Manage, resolve and provide advice regarding issues that impact delivery of the Staff Housing Framework using correct methods and escalating where required.
- Deliver a standard national approach to ensure our properties, are safe, compliant and acceptable.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
