Payroll Assurance and Analysis directorate provides an environment focused on efficiency and continuous improvement, resolving complex payroll issues and implementing large scale payroll changes. The directorate provides oversight of the Department's payroll services through the Controls and Assurance Framework, including audit management, HR data hygiene and collaboration with Finance. Payroll analysis drives the development of data solutions for payroll system updates and policy changes.

Our ideal candidate

 

  • Has a problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyse and apply solutions to large datasets using tools such as Excel, Power Query, VBA and Power Bi.
  • Critical thinking skills allowing one to question data and assumptions to determine the root causes of problems.
  • Experience with SAP software or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Well-developed communication skills. The ability to explain insights to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively with work areas outside of payroll.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new tools or processes to meet evolving business needs.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Prepare and deliver regular scheduled reporting and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative duties within the team, e.g. monitoring and responding to team emails and requests and maintaining standard operating procedure documents.
  • Undertake large scale data migration activities required to deliver policy and system updates for example Enterprise Agreement or Machinery of Government changes.
  • Assist in the resolution of complex data issues through the design and implementation of comprehensive end-to-end solutions for data remediation and SAP data governance.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Payroll Controls Framework and Assurance processes through the use of key performance indicators to monitor, evaluate and enhance HR service delivery in line with internal and external audit obligations.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
