DC National Operations | Maritime Border Command & OSB | MBC Deputy Commander | MBC Partnerships

 

The MBC Partnerships Directorate is responsible for the delivery of high-level strategic guidance on domestic and international engagement activities; contributing to engagement related briefing and strategic communications support to the MBC Executive. It provides strategic analysis and advice to domestic and foreign partners on MBC's position within the whole-of-government civil maritime security community, linking in to the broader ABF, Home Affairs Portfolio and whole-of-government systems to support MBC's mission. This serves to transition policy initiatives into operational effect. The Directorate's Strategic Communications Team manages all MBC Social and Printed Media supporting MBC's narrative in combatting civil maritime security threats.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Assist in planning and coordinating international engagement activities, including visit programs, scheduling, and briefing support for ABF senior executive meetings.
  • Support the preparation of engagement or briefing materials including talking points, post-engagement summaries, and internal briefing notes for multilateral and bilateral meetings (e.g. HACGAM, ReCAAP, QUAD).
  • Monitor open-source and departmental information on regional civil maritime issues, helping identify trends and partner engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain stakeholder databases, track and advance commitments from previous engagements, and coordinate post-meeting follow-up tasks.
  • Liaise with internal ABF and Home Affairs stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging and engagement inputs/outputs.
  • Support coordination of international delegation visits to ABF facilities or MBC force assigned assets.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, initiative and attention to detail when working within a fast-paced and high-profile policy area.
  • Triage and manage group mailbox providing timely responses to internal and external stakeholders managing up where appropriate 
  • Prepare and manage logistical and administrative processes around travel such as international travel requests, preparation of itineraries, meeting agendas.

  • Fufill the Department's minimum requirements by satisfactorily answering all screening questions during the application process

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
