Trade Compliance operates as a national program delivered through a network of regional teams of highly skilled officers providing technical expertise across a range of trade risks. Trade Compliance delivers operational pre, at and post border compliance activity informed by risk and utilising evidence based assessments to prioritise activities and treatments. 

 

Trade Compliance operates across the entire supply chain and end to end importing and exporting process in collaboration with stakeholders and partners, to disrupt or change the behaviour of non-compliant entities. 

 

Our teams are located in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide and include the following teams:

 

  • Pre Clearance Intervention
  • Compliance Monitoring Program
  • Intellectual Property Rights and Enforcement
  • Trade Compliance Targeted Response
  • National Refunds Intervention
  • Compliance 1.

Our ideal candidate

 

The Branch is seeking candidates who are self driven, enthusiastic and agile, enjoy collaborating within a team environment and are confident in working under limited supervision.  You will have an ability to interpret and apply legislation while also being able to assess and distil complex information to inform evidence-based recommendations and decisions in a dynamic risk environment.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to initiate, build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, to achieve outcomes that deliver regulatory benefits to the organisation, our industry partners and the Australian community.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Undertake desktop verification exercises, conducting analytical research and risk assessments
  • Assess and evaluate profiled cargo for possible revenue evasion, import or export of controlled goods and correct cargo reporting
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, providing accurate advice to industry and guidance on trade compliance matters
  • Prepare recommendations for compliance and infringement action and investigate referrals from other line areas on matters of revenue evasion and community protection.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
