The Townsville District Office (DO) provides one the most diverse operational ABF experiences of any DO. The Townsville DO is unique in that it offers staff exposure to Aviation (Military and Civilian), Shipping including Cruise Ships and Small Craft, Sea Cargo along with remote operations, including land and sea patrols.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Co-ordinating team activities to ensure business area targets are met
  • Managing team outputs and ensuring team members are provided clear direction
  • Developing local procedures and guidelines to maximise team performance
  • Managing performance issues as they arise with team members and escalating behavioural or integrity issues for management oversight
  • Providing specialist technical / professional advice on specific issues using appropriate methodologies and practices.

These positions require the occupant/s to meet Border Force Officer essential qualifications. If successful, candidates are required to:

 

  • Attain and maintain relevant medical, fitness and psychometric standards
  • Swear an oath or make an affirmation
  • Actively participate in career management (postings and deployments)
  • Be uniformed
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Australian drivers licence (LR classification or ability to obtain)
  • Obtain and maintain essential and role-specific qualifications.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
