Management Accounting Branch is responsible for internal budget allocations (departmental/administered and capital); internal management reporting and analysis; providing strategic financial advice to stakeholders through the Group Finance Partner network; and delivering a strategic costing framework for the Portfolio.

  • Have experience in a range of financial roles with a good knowledge of the commonwealth financial framework and an understanding of a broad range of issues which impact on operational, corporate and policy areas of an organisation

  • Experience in Microsoft office productions, particularly Excel and SAP GUI.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Provide support and input into a range of financial and budget activities (e.g. budget development, end-of-month reporting, forecasting)
  • Provide financial advice to business areas and projects ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, financial framework and legislation
  • Undertake financial month end processing including accruals and journals within the specified timeframes
  • Communicate with a range of stakeholders to present financial information
  • Support the coordination of input into various internal and external reports and briefing documents, including but not limited to annual reports, monthly finance reports, senate estimates briefs, and executive committee papers.
  • Assist in administering the CIP process, including supporting project financial assurance activities in conjunction with the IPO.

 

Additional information

 

The following knowledge and experience is highly desirable:

  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Accounting/business qualifications
  • Experience with the use of SAP and TM1
  • Intermediate to advanced level Excel skills.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

 

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
 

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
     

In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
