The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for central coordination, strategy and policy leadership in relation to:

- Border security and management
- Counter-terrorism

Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the role will be dependent on the section that successful applicants are placed into, but broadly the duties and responsibilities of an APS 5 may include:
- Assist with the performance management of the program, project and/or service including reviewing problems, recognising potential issues and investigating practical solutions.
- Assist with quality assurance activities, identifying trends and providing feedback to the relevant stakeholders
- May manage and/or oversee the management of mailboxes and triage of communications to appropriate team members
- Coordinate and respond to moderately complex to complex client enquiries and requests, review applications/decisions, provide advice and record information as applicable
- Undertake continuous improvement, including reviewing own work for process and procedural efficiency, to ensure the quality of a program, project and/or service and that stakeholder expectations are met
- Manage resources in accordance with legislation, delegation limits and departmental policy
- Store records according to departmental policy and legislative requirements
- Conduct thorough analysis and research across all relevant information sources to meet reporting requirements
- Provide advice to colleagues and other staff to assist with business improvement
- Understand the roles, responsibilities and obligations of stakeholders within the program, project and/or service
- May assist with planning, coordinating and running meetings and provide secretariat responsibilities or functions as required.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
- ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
- Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
